Most people do not think of Islam as encouraging the rights of women, but in her travels throughout the Middle East, Elizabeth Warnock Fernea encountered a broad variety of women's organizations. Fernea, author of In Search of Islamic Feminism: One Woman's Global Journey, discusses how feminism can take many forms and often is compatible with Islamic culture.

In the Netherlands there are over half a million residents of Turkish or Morrocan origin. Many of these residents find that the values and traditions of their home culutre clash with what their host culture considers to be progressive.
