CHICAGO MATTERS: Examining Health
What do eastern remedies and western medicine, clinical medical ethics
and Asthma have in common? They were some of the topics explored in Chicago
Matters: Examining Health.
From April 5 through
June 1, 1999, WBEZ created a forum to better understand the issues Chicago
residents face in striving to stay healthy. Reports, personal essays,
30-minute documentaries, town meetings, and a live performance arts evening
where young local actors give voice to young Chicagoans concerns about
health, were all part of the 1999 series.
WBEZ, in collaboration
with Channel 11, The
Chicago Public Library, and The
Chicago Reporter, examined the ways that scientific advances, local
public health initiatives, politics, and our own lifestyle choices all
affect our health — both as individuals and as a community.
Listen
to WBEZ's broadcasts of the series documentaries, reports and personal
essays, and town meetings.
