CHICAGO MATTERS: Seeking Justice
America was built on the foundation For Liberty and Justice
for All, but how just is our system of justice? How well do
Americans understand our legal system and how it impacts their daily
lives?
Chicago Public Radio presents a series of 20 reports, 12 personal
essays, six documentaries, and two town meetings that take a broad
look at our justice system in Illinois—law enforcement, courts,
and prisons.
Chicago Matters:
Seeking Justice offers insight into many of todays controversial
issues of justice and its implementation. From issues of juvenile justice,
to how we select judges, to the future of the death penalty in Illinois,
the series will raise important questions, uncover new information, and,
where appropriate, present innovative solutions.
Chicago Public Radio, in collaboration with Channel
11, The
Chicago Public Library, and The
Chicago Reporter, with sole sponsorship from The Chicago Community
Trust, will take a broad look at justice and its impact on the daily
lives of Chicago-area residents. With the largest court system in
the nation, how do Chicagoans experience the legal system? And what
role do race, income, education and employment status play? Can
ordinary citizens seek justice and find it? The series addresses
these and many other provocative questions.
The entire series is available on cassette tapes at all of
the Chicago Public Libraries and some suburban libraries.
