Most of us made one or two Popsicle stick houses in our youth, only to loose interest in the medium before we could realize its full potential. Fortunately for our Cool Spots travelers, one man continues to build with popsicle sticks and opened a museum to show off his creations.
One of the models created by DeVon Rose
For over 30 years, DeVon Rose toiled away in his basement, fashioning miniature buildings out of household items like Popsicle sticks and matchboxes. The fruits of his labor include models of an Amish farm and a tiny version of his hometown. You can see these and other items at DeVon Rose's museum. You may even feel a twinge of regret that you left Popsicle sticks behind all those years ago.

"I’ll tell you up front, I’ve never been a big fan of vacation hot spots. Take the Grand Canyon, or Yellowstone. Haven’t they been done? When you show your friends a photo of Mount Rushmore, are you really surprised when they yawn? Face it, you’re competing with a license plate."

—Jerry Pohlen, author of Oddball Illinois and Oddball Wisconsin, Oddball Indiana, Oddball Colorado, and the new Oddball Minnesota.
