Cook County prosecutors on Thursday told a judge they would try to bring other “crimes and bad acts” into a felony case against Chicago police Cmdr. Glenn Evans (photo by Charlie Billups/WBEZ). The commander, meanwhile, is trying to find out how a DNA report in the case went public.
Prosecutors say Kadiedra Speed, a 20-year-old ward of the state, stabbed her roommate to death in their Joliet apartment. It’s believed to be the first time a ward has been charged with murder since 2009.
