Bringing Prosthetics to Haiti

Haiti faces a whole new generation of amputees who’ll need prosthetics and the long term care that goes along with these sorts of injuries. We hear how two groups, the Range of Motion Project and Healing Hands for Haiti, are planning to address the problem.

Al Ingersoll is a certified prosthetist and a member of the executive board of Healing Hands for Haiti. The organization has been working with the disabled in Haiti since 1998. Al has just returned from Haiti and he joins us to talk about what he saw there.

Eric Neufeld is a licensed prosthetist and one of the founders of the Range of Motion Project, also known as ROMP. The organization has been featured on our Global Activism series. They provide prosthetics and orthotic braces to people that don’t have access to these services. ROMP is also working together with Healing Hands for Haiti. Eric Neufeld is joining us to talk about the work that ROMP will be doing in Haiti.
