Worldview heard from Karen Darch, the Village Board President of Barrington who is opposed to the purchase of the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway.  Karen’s also a member of the group TRAC which stands for (The Regional Answer to Canadian National).

TRAC is a coalition of suburban communities that joined forces out of concern for issues related to public safety, environment, traffic gridlock, emergency response times and potential economic losses. TRAC includes municipal and county leaders from the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana.

We also spoke with Jim Labelle, Vice President of Chicago Metropolis 2020, an organization dedicated to 21st century development issues in the Chicago region. Chicago Metropolis 2020 put out a study on the potential economic impact of the purchase.
