From 2007 Osama bin Laden Tape

This hour, we’ll look at a man who, conspicuously, has been out of the news of late: Osama bin Laden…Remember him? Unlike 2004, Bin Laden never surfaced as this Presidential election’s October surprise.

Despite a 25 million dollar award, the F.B.I.’s Number One hasn’t been spotted in seven years. While President-Elect Barack Obama vowed to renew effors to hunt down bin Laden, a growing chorus of counter-terrorism experts says bin Laden — dead or alive — is no longer relevant.  

But first, I spoke with a forensics expert about the slew of purported bin Laden video and audiotapes that emerged in the years since 9/11. Hany Farid (HAH-knee Far-eed) is Professor of Computer Science at Dartmouth College. He specializes in digital imaging forensics.
