New Proposal for Energy Independence
Money anxieties aren’t limited to state government, of course. The ever increasing cost of oil has everyone from big business to lowly citizen scrambling to save dough on gas and food and everything else. Government officials say they’re trying to do their part. Yesterday, two Republican Illinois congressmen served up a proposal to end America’s dependence on foreign oil in the next 15 years. Representatives John Shimkus and Peter Roskam say uping domestic oil production and encouraging alternative energy sources will drastically reduce gas prices. For more on the plan, Congressman Roskam joins us on the line with more on his bill.
Peter Roskam is a Republican representing Illinois’s 6th Congressional district. He’s a co-sponsor of the Energy VISION Act, along with Illinois U.S. Representative John Shimkus.

His comments were almost identical to the comments made by the incoming head of the Petroleum group on Talk of the Nation yesterday. Plus, neither person answered the questions. And NPR let them off the hook. Why can't NPR be more like the BBC and ask questions on obvious spin.
