Gladys Beard
The importance of diversity in neighborhoods is important to Gladys Beard.
She recently relocated to the Chicago area after years of traveling the world as an employee for the airline TWA.
Gladys has returned to care for her elderly mother and sees a number of changes in Chicago.
She tells us her story as part of the StoryCorps Griot Initiative which aims to capture the oral history of everyday African Americans.
She says Chicago’s not the same place she left in the 1960s.
