Last week, we heard from listeners about a time that they volunteered abroad to make the world a better place. Their stories are part of our two-week long Global Activism Vacation series.

Today, we’ll hear from a listener who took a volunteer vacation and was so inspired by the trip he created his own Global Activist organization.

Suhail Butt volunteered in Kashmir, Pakistan with Comprehensive Disaster Response Services Pakistan last summer.  He worked with schools and hospitals devastated by the 2005 earthquake.

Suhail Butt is an architect by trade.  He designs bars and restaurants in the Chicagoland area. After returning from his volunteer vacation, he found a way to use his connections to Chicago’s art and music scene to continue to help children in Pakistan.

Suhail Butt told Jerome why he decided to go to Pakistan.
