Leave it to Brazilian musicians to come up with a hip sounding children's record; not once but twice. That's  exactly what artist Adriana Calconhotto has done with her second such album appropriately entitled, 'Partimpim Dois'.

The new release is one of Chicago Reader music writer Peter Margasak's picks for this month's New Sounds. He also pulls out some music from Colombia and Singapore.

Plus a couple of tunes from the legendary Cuban band, Septeto Nacional de Ignacio Pinero. The band, started in 1927 by bassist Ignacio Pinero, pioneered the musical style known as son. It was also the first Cuban band to coin the term Salsa as it relates to music, and include a trumpet in the front line.

Septeto Nacional is touring the U-S for the first time in more than 70 years!

This week om Radio M: The Featured Album.

This month it's the latest in a series of musical pairings titled Inspiration Information. The series, according to the Strut label is to bring \"together modern artists and producers with their musical heroes.\" On the third installment-Inspiration Information 3- Ethiopian legend Mulatu Astatke plays with the musically eclectic UK collective The Heliocentrics.

The result is a mix of the eerie pentatonic Ethiopian musical scale with some electronic noodling and Sun Ra inspired sonic exploration.
