So Many Ways to Tell a Story!
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 @ 6:00 p.m., doors at 5:30 p.m.

With words, songs, movements and sounds - there are so many ways to tell a story!  We've collaborated with Chicago Children's Museum to host this special storytelling event, our first specifically for families.  Help Oba William King, Justin Roberts, and Chicago’s Redmoon Theater write a magnificent story then sit back and listen as it’s performed live.

After coming together in the Great Hall, participating children and their families will workshop with Oba, Justin and the artists of Redmoon Theater in various places throughout the Museum to create the narrative story, songs and accompanying movements to tell a fabulous tale.  There will then be a short intermission for everyone to enjoy the exhibitions while the stage is set - what remarkable story will be told?

This event will conclude by 8:30pm and a complimentary boxed dinner, courtesy of GoPicnic meals, will be provided to all who attend!

Additional details:

Oba William King, known as "The Poetic Storyteller", is a remarkable artist who masterfully combines professional theatrical training, creative imagination & his vocal gifts to brilliantly unlock the music, mystery, magic and true joy in traditional storytelling. King is the founder and director of JUSTUS Arts Education Program for Youth, a Chicago-based organization that uses arts to help students and others appreciate their own abilities to make positive contributions to society.  In amazing performances, Oba has again and again show to hold the attention of even the youngest member of the audience. He is, truly, a jewel whose brilliance is to be shared with people everywhere.  Read more...

Justin Roberts is truly one of the "all-stars" of the indie family music scene. He logs thousands of miles on the road each year, leading some to call him the hardest working man in children's show business. With national awards and recognition and a devoted fan base, Justin's music has been compared to everyone from Elvis Costello and Fountains of Wayne to Paul Simon and Nick Lowe. Whatever influences fans picked up in the music, it's clear that unlike many other performers, Justin had figured out a way to truly appeal to both kids and adults.  Read more...

Redmoon Theater is known to create theatrical spectacles that transform streets, stages, and architectural landmarks into places of public celebration.  Utilizing an original language capable of speaking across cultural, ethnic, and generational boundaries, in a world that encourages ever greater isolation and individual focus, Redmoon Theater makes theater to challenge the boundaries that sit between people and that inspire a shared experience of our common humanity.  Read more...
