Documenting the First University in Angola's Bie Region

Guerra Freitas is originally from the city of Kuito in Bie province, Angola. Freitas survived the devastating nine month siege of Kuito during the civil war, but his wife and daughter did not. Guerra had five landmines experiences, including one when he was in a truck with 23 people when it hit a landmine. Thirteen passengers were killed.

After he came to the US, Freitas founded Share Circle and began doing development work to help his home province recover. Their primary project is building Angola University in Kuito.  The documentary film,“Pools of Light" by Nicolas DeGrazia and Daniel Kullman, documents the journey to bring the University into being.

Also, we'll hear from Joyce Hollingsworth and Christopher Turley  about the project and the movie.
