A new story in the Chicago Reporter reveals that people who live near rail yards are at a higher risk of asthma attacks and cardiac arrest. The analysis found that the exhaust emitted by locomotives and trucks contains toxic compounds like nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide. Kari Lydersen wrote the story and talks more about her findings.
