Abortion Law Off the Books 'til 2010

An lllinois law requiring doctors to tell the parents of teen-aged patients' before performing an abortion won't come into effect this year. That's after a circuit court judge decided to uphold a restraining order preventing enforcement of the law until at least January. He says he's waiting for briefs from both sides before determining whether the law should stand.
Attorney Lorie Chaiten represented the American Civil Liberties Union in court today. She says notifying parents about an abortion should be a matter of choice for Illinois teens.
CHAITEN: As with all other medical care, when they're pregnant they can make this very important decision without being forced to involve either people in their families or a court whom they don't want to involve.
Chaiten says the 14-year-old law is unconstitutional in the state.
More than 47,000 Illinois women sought abortions in 2008. The ACLU estimates about ten percent were teens.

That's crap. Parents should know what their kids are doing! Obviously, if the children are seeking a secret abortion, they're also hiding the fact that they're having sex in the first place! I'm sick of my generation getting blamed for making the world go downhill because of stuff like this! If anything, parents should have the rights to all their childs medical records and inquiries.
