Photo by: Michael Prischman for the Metropolitan Planning Council, 2009
At its 2009 Annual Luncheon, the Metropolitan Planning Council featured a joint appearance by three members of President Obama’s Cabinet to discuss the progress they have made, and describe how regions around the nation can work with the Obama administration.

In the midst of an unprecedented economic downturn, public and private sector leaders across metropolitan Chicago are planting encouraging seeds of innovation. Communities are working simultaneously on housing, transportation and environmental goals, and bridging neighborhood and municipal boundaries. They are pursuing these creative strategies because they cannot afford not to ... but are they getting the assistance and rewards they need to put metropolitan Chicago on the path to prosperity.

Three Cabinet secretaries appeared together to discuss their interagency Partnership for Sustainable Communities and other new federal initiatives to improve the nation's metro regions.

Featuring:
Shaun Donovan, Secretary, U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development
Ray LaHood, Secretary, U.S. Dept. of Transportation
Lisa Jackson, Administrator, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Recorded Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Metropolitan Planning Council Conference Center.
