For the past couple of weeks, high school students at Kenwood Academy in Hyde Park have been treated to a special substitute teacher of sorts. They’ve been working with Grammy Award-winning vocalist Cassandra Wilson on jazz composition, improvisation and culture. She’s been working to get the kids ready to help her kick off the Hyde Park Jazz Festival. We stopped by a rehearsal earlier this week to get a preview of what’s expected Friday night.

Richard talks to Kenwood Senior Thomas Stovall, Kenwood Junior Imani Ramey and Cassandra Wilson.

Event:
Hyde Park Jazz Festival
Saturday, September 26
