Property owners throughout Illinois will be receiving a little something from their tax office soon. And while it’ll likely be unwelcome by most, in Lake County, this year’s property assessment notices will also seem awfully unfamiliar. A complete redesign of the notices is meant to provide more information about assessments and why they may have gone up or down. The governor recently signed a law that implements the redesign. Much of the state will experience those changes next year, and it’s all the work of Citizen’s Action Project, a watchdog group.
