University of Illinois Study Identifies Way to Leave Domestic Violence

Earlier this week, Governor Pat Quinn signed new laws that are expected to help domestic violence victims. One of these requires parolees accused of domestic violence to be arrested for violating their parole. Advocates say this will help to protect victims and their families. And then there’s our role in helping people in abusive partnerships. A recently published work by University of Illinois doctoral candidate Lyndal Khaw identifies five steps to leaving this abuse. She is the co-author of "Leaving an Abusive Partner: Exploring Boundary Ambiguity Using the Stages of Change Model," published in the Journal of Family Theory and Review.
