Daley Wants Stimulus Cash for Airports
Produced by Alex Keefe on Wednesday, August 05, 2009

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is calling on the federal government to dole out stimulus money for airports.
The mayor told a room full of airport executives it seems like their industry was forgotten in the multi-billion dollar economic stimulus plan.
Daley was touting his massive expansion of O'Hare International Airport, which he says is creating much-needed jobs during the economic recession.
But he says the O'Hare Modernization Program could provide a bigger boost if the federal government would help fund it with stimulus cash.
The city had previously hoped to secure stimulus money to help pay for the estimated $15 billion O'Hare expansion.
Instead, it got just $12 million dollars for some runway improvements.

O'Hare is land locked and the plan way over budget. To justify federal stimulous funds O'Hare funding must be considered as part of some overall stimulous not in a vacuum. Daley successfully made an end run around a regionall airport development plan in the past and this must be reviewed before sinking taxpayer money for another Daley boondoggle.
