Illinois U.S. Senator Roland Burris' decision to stay out of the 2010 election has prompted one of his supporters to jump in the race.
Anthony Williams is pastor at the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in south suburban Robbins. He says he supported Burris because of his long history of public service.
WILLIAMS: Roland represented the masses of people.
Williams spoke up for Burris despite the controversies that clouded his appointment to the Senate. And now, with Burris out of the race, Williams wants to draw more attention to issues like the economy, housing and crime. WILLIAMS: Right now, we have, basically, millionaires that run for that position. The common person - the common man or woman - is not allowed to participate in the electoral process.
Williams says he'll ask his supporters to contribute just one dollar to the campaign, and volunteer time. He says he'll soon file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, running as either a Democrat or an independent. He kicks off the campaign Saturday afternoon at a press conference in Robbins.

Rev. Williams has not been able to generate enough support to give him the ability to make a trace out of his regular runs for Congress against Jesse Jackson, Jr but not he's going to generate millions needed for a Statewide Senate run.? I think the momentum is with Cheryle Jackson.
