Daley Backpedals on Signing Olympic Agreement

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says he spoke too soon when he agreed to sign a contract that would make the city fiscally responsible for the 2016 Olympics.

Daley made his comments Friday at his first press conference since returning from Switzerland, where he visited with the International Olympic Committee.

That's where he apparently agreed to sign the IOC's host city contract, even though he originally vowed not to.

DALEY: I should have ... more fully explained what my concerns were, and that we should purchase additional insurance to protect taxpayers before we sign the agreement.

Daley now says he wants Chicago's Olympic bid committee to take out more insurance to protect taxpayers from cost overruns.

And he says he won't sign anything until it's reviewed by the city council.
