Indiana officials are dealing with the state’s first reported case of swine flu.
State health officials confirm the person is a student at the University of Notre Dame, just a couple hours east of Chicago in South Bend.
The person is doing well but so far it’s unclear how the student, who is not being identified, contracted the condition.
Rachel Meyer is with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
MEYER: The person did not visit Mexico recently so that makes a little bit unique in that sense of trying to track down exactly how they came in contact with it.
The student became ill last week. University officials are trying to track down the person’s close contacts at the school.
President Obama is scheduled to speak at Notre Dame’s commencement exercises in two weeks.
Federal health officials say there have been 64 confirmed cases of swine flu in the U.S.
