All last week, we brought you coverage from our reporters at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. This week, we turn to the Republicans—who are off to a rocky start in the Twin Cities. Yesterday, thousands of marchers took to the streets in St. Paul, Minnesota. They marched to protest the Iraq War, and the Republican National Convention. The group was largely peaceful, but in some instances protesters turned violent: smashing windows, slashing car tires, and harassing Republican delegates. Police used pepper spray, tear gas, and arrested more than 50 people.
Chicago Public Radio’s Ben Calhoun is in the Twin Cities covering the convention, and was smack in the middle of yesterday’s protest.
