Bears' Orton to Start As Opening Day QB

The Chicago Bears have finally decided on a new starting quarterback. Kyle Orton will lead the team over former starting QB Rex Grossman.

Regular season play hasn't started yet, but so far, it's been an intensely competitive year for Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman. The pair's been duking it out for the starting quarterback position since May's minicamp.

Orton started 15 games in his rookie year and the final three games last season, while Grossman's had 30 career starts. And though Grossman led the Bears to the Super Bowl after the 2006 season, his turnover rate has been criticized.

Coach Lovie Smith says he feels good about Orton leading the team and that the decision came down to a "gut feeling." Smith says Grossman was disappointed by the decision.

The Bears will open the regular season September 7 against the Indianapolis Colts.
