Just about five out of six Americans ascribe to one religion or another. More than nine in 10 say they believe in God. And yet, the fastest growing religious category in the United States is unaffiliated. Those are a few brushstrokes from a complex picture of American religion, compiled by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. It’s based on a massive survey of 35,000 Americans.
There’s a lot of food for thought in all that data, and Al Gini’s been chewing on it for a while. He is, of course, Eight Forty-Eight’s resident philosopher. Al Gini teaches business ethics and Loyola University Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
