The Comedy of Hannibal Burress

Standup comics have long found material in the mundane facts of daily life. You're supposed to laugh and think, "Ha! It's funny 'cause it's true!" Chicago comic Hannibal Buress manages to achieve that effect in his own distinctive way.

Hannibal Buress is the funniest guy in Chicago, at least, according to the magazine Time Out Chicago. That's quite a claim, but there may be something to it, judging by the attention he's starting to get. He's been on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and will appear in a standup special on Comedy Central next month. We caught up with Buress in our studio to talk about what it's like to be an up-and-coming standup comedian in a town known for improv and sketch.

Hannibal Buress will appear at Zanies in Vernon Hills tomorrow. He’ll also be part of the Comedy Central special Live at Gotham, scheduled to air on July 25.

Hannibal is hilarious. Thanks for helping me laugh hard during an emotionally rough week. Does he have a website where he posts his upcoming shows?
