Back in 1933, when Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry first opened its doors, hybrid cars and solar heating were just flickers in some enterprising young minds. Now, as the museum turns seventy-five, some of those concepts have become reality – in fact, they sit on the institution’s East lawn. The new exhibit, Smart Home: Green + Wired, combines the hottest eco-friendly technology in a functional home. To find out more, Eight Forty Eight’s Alison Cuddy headed out to the Museum to tour the exhibition with project director Anne Rashford. They started out at the home’s epicenter for energy monitoring
