Co-Host, Sound Opinions

Greg is co-host of Chicago Public Radio’s Sound Opinions, the world’s only rock ‘n’ roll talk show, which is nationally distributed by American Public Media.

Prior to joining the staff of Chicago Public Radio in the fall of 2005, Greg co-hosted Sound Opinions with Jim DeRogatis of the Chicago Sun-Times on WXRT-FM 93.1 since 1998. In addition to serving as the pop music critic at the Chicago Tribune since 1990, he is a regular contributor to Rolling Stone, Blender, Entertainment Weekly and other national periodicals. He wrote a biography of Wilco and the state of the music industry in Wilco: Learning How to Die. His work has been published in Encyclopedia Britannica and numerous books, including Harrison, a Rolling Stone Tribute to George Harrison; Cash: By the Editors of Rolling Stone; The Trouser Press Guide to '90s Rock; and The New Rolling Stone Album Guide.

Greg has a B.A. in Journalism from Marquette University.

Originally from Syracuse, New York, Greg resides in the Edgebrook neighborhood of Chicago with his wife, Deborah, and daughters Katie and Marissa.
