As Chicago Public Radio's News Desk Editor, Ammad coordinates the station's twenty-two local newscasts during Morning Edition, mid-day, and All Things Considered, as well as during weekend broadcasts.
He manages a team of reporters, producers, and interns, who are in charge of covering the day's breaking news on air and online at Chicagopublicradio.org.

In January of 2007, Ammad became the first host of Chicago Public Radio's Global Overnight, a position he held until November of 2007.

At that point, Ammad served as Morning News Producer and Assignment Editor, before taking on his current role.

Prior to joining Chicago Public Radio, he worked as a news anchor for Indus Vision in Karachi, Pakistan, and then interned in the diplomatic wing of the Embassy of Pakistan, in Washington, D.C.

Ammad has a BA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he studied History and Economics, and currently lives in Chicago's River North neighborhood.
